Good Afternoon,
I usually post on Monday, but somehow the day ran away from me. This week we are moving forward with TKAMB. The story is heating up, and today in class we discussed a true modern connection to the discrimination being faced by our main characters. Please tell your families about the PROM in Georgia. Although it may be heavy conversation for the dinner table, the subject of personal belief is so very important for each and every one of you. In the blink of an eye, you will be seniors graduating and leaving to live independently from your structure. Like Atticus in TKAMB wants for Jem and Scout, all of us around you want your belief system to be firmly planted in your mind. It is not the specific literature that you are likely to recall after you leave my class, but the ideas and opinions we have discussed throughout this year. What does it mean to be a true friend? What is the meaning of life (did we really discuss this)? How is it best to make decisions? What values and beliefs matter to you and make you unique and special?
If I did not collect your newspaper article today, it is LATE. Please see me before class or afterschool to submit it ASAP. You are losing valuable points the longer you keep it in your hands and not mine.
