All classes have a vocabulary quiz today.
My message for the day and weekend is a challenge to all. In both Of Mice and Men and The Pearl we have been reading and discussing some weighty matters of right and wrong. In Of Mice and Men the limits of friendship are tested. In The Pearl Kino and Juana's values are tainted. They exchange their simple life for dreams of grandeur and achievement.
My goal is for you to think beyond the texts we have read in class. What matters to you? Is there a way you might help someone in need this weekend? Are you the someone in need of a bit of extra attention? I challenge you to take a small step that may mean a lot to someone else or yourself; it will make a difference. Call a friend or relative you have not spoken to in a while, complete an extra task or two, plan a special gathering for a friend for no other reason than fun, grab some time for yourself and relax, stop and listen carefully, and determine how you can make an impact for yourself or a dear and near friend.
